Learn more about Aubrey

I grew up in Orlando, Florida. I graduated from Auburn University in Alabama and then spent two years living in Nairobi, Kenya and Johannesburg, South Africa.
When I lived in Africa, I was overwhelmed by a desire to know more about that country. The people, customs and landscape were foreign to me. So, when I returned back to the states, I was interested to see if I could find a way to help people to feel more welcome in the US.
I became friends with Bob and Ann Sullivan, who were staff members with ISI. They had a thriving outreach to students that were attending the University of Central Florida (UCF). I met a Kenyan who was attending school at that time. We enjoyed spending time with each other, and talking about our memories of Africa.
I later got married, and after a few kids and years later, I felt led to become involved with international student ministry (ISM) again. I found a group of people who were working to help get local churches involved with friendships to international students. Our family had two different Chinese families that were our friendship families during that time.
Our family moved to live in Thailand for 2 ½ years, and then I joined ISI as a campus staff worker at University of Central Florida in Orlando. I am passionate about befriending international students, and helping them to understand more about American culture. I also hope to encourage and train more people to become involved with this vital task.
My family currently lives in Orlando, Florida. I am married to Kathy, who originally grew up in Bradenton, Florida. We have five children: Amber, Rachael, Ryan, Cameron and Katie Beth. We also have three grandchildren: Adelina, Aidan, and Addison.
